Review - First Impressions of FTL: Advanced Edition

FTL was the most exciting new game I had run across in years. I sank dozens of hours into the game and only unlocked a few ships/races. So far this is the update I'd been anticipating. First of all I love the interface tweaks. The graphical additions that help you navigate (it helps you anticipate a second jump from any point) and understand events (icons are displayed to show what you gain or lose) are most welcome. And crew movement has been improved in two ways: now the corner of the room where they're headed will light up, and there are buttons to save crew positions and send them back--saving tons of clicks! I haven't had much of a chance to play but I have had experiences not making it through the first sector in hard mode, getting through fights involving hacking, and a spectacular failure to save my crew using the cloning bay (it has to be both powered and undamaged). There are new events with some interesting deals that I have already encountered, and new sector types that I've stumbled into, but clearly still a lot left to discover in terms of the new races and ships. Looking forward to finding more!
